Kiva.org is Invited to the Clinton Global Initiative

August 8, 2006

Kiva.org has been honored with an invitation to the second annual Clinton Global Initiative meeting, September 20-22, 2006, in New York City.

This year's group will include King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, President Jacques Chirac, Prime Minister Tony Blair, UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, First Lady Laura Bush, Warren Buffett, Hernando de Soto, Bill Gates, Lakshmi Mittal, Rupert Murdoch, General Colin Powell, Lee Scott Jr., Muhammad Yunus, and dozens of additional distinguished leaders.

This nonpartisan Initiative brings together a select group of heads of state, business leaders, scholars and NGO representatives to identify innovative solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems.

Only 20 NGOs have been invited to this event, and Kiva.org is honored to be counted among them, as the provider of an innovative solution to the lack of access to cheap debt capital of small-business entrepreneurs in the developing world. We look forward to using this opportunity to learn from others who are effecting change in the world, and sharing our vision of connecting people across the globe through lending.
