"Kiva helped launch a Future Natural Hair Mogul"

- Paula, The Love of People

My name is Paula Bland. I am from and currently living in New Orleans. The Love of People, TLP, is a natural hair product line that was started in 2009. It was founded on the premise that true acceptance of self can happen with embracing what God gave you, which includes your hair texture. TLP strives daily to help naturals embrace their own natural hair journey by supplying them with tools to ease maintenance and help with overall hair health.

The Kiva Loan that I was able to obtain went toward increasing my business credit and validating me as a business. It made me accountable to something and placed me in a position to get my business up and running in the right direction. It helped me place down payments on certain things such as machinery needed and website design. My advice to prospective borrowers is make sure you have a clear cut direction of what you want Kiva to contribute to and make sure you have other funds that can further back up your dreams and plans. Having the backing from Kiva gave me a lot of stepping stones that are still leading me down my path of becoming a self sufficient entrepreneur, so thank you for that.

Kathinka K. Nakstad

Kathinka moved to San Francisco to pursue her BBA degree, with a major in marketing. Being form Norway, she time to time misses the different seasons (especially winters with snow). One of her hobbies consists of finding a part of a city and explore it for a whole day. Checking out cool boutiques, and the best places to eat. Two of her favorite places to visit are Budapest and Vienna. No wonder her dream job would be to travel the world and write about the places she visits.
